It's wine o'clock somewhere!
Looking for a sentimental moment to add to your wedding ceremony?
Wine box ceremonies and time capsules are a beautiful way to add a personal touch to your big moment.
Wine Box Ceremony
What you need:
A wine box. You can get some lovely personalised ones online!
Two envelopes with your love notes to each other enclosed.
A bottle of your favourite wine, gin or whatever your chosen tipple is!
What happens during the ceremony?
We will open the wine box and invite you place your love notes to each other inside. Sometimes people choose a family member or friend to keep hold of them during the ceremony before this moment.
We will then place your bottle of alcohol in the box too and seal it. Your celebrant will speak about what the wine represents and give an explanation - wine puns always welcome!

On an anniversary of your choice, you will open the box, read the notes and drink the wine as you reminisce about your amazing day!
This is a personal favourite of mine because I love wine and I think it's very subtle, yet sentimental.
How to personalise further:
Get a bespoke box made with your married name and date engraved.
Doesn't have to be wine - pick your favourite date night alcohol.
Get your close friends and family to write notes too!
Pairs great with:
Unity shot ceremony or a group toast - keep that alcohol flowing!
A bespoke poetry reading - talking about your story so far and how you're ready for the future.
Handwritten vows - you could even seal these in the box afterwards!
Time Capsule
Don't drink alcohol? No worries at all, we can skip the beverage. I've had couples adapt this ritual by having their bridal party and close family write letters too. During the ceremony, these VIPs are invited to place these letters in the box, followed by the happy couple!

Again, you will be invited to open this capsule on an anniversary of your choice and read your notes from loved ones and your partner!
What you need?
A box, any style you like but big enough to fit all of the letters.
That's pretty much it! You then just need to instruct your chosen guests to write letters and place them in an envelope (+ bring them to the ceremony).
Ideas to personalise further!
Add sentimental items into the time capsule e.g. concert tickets, memories from your engagement.
Place your vow cards inside with your notes.
Pairs well with:
Band warming - a great way to make all your guests feel involved, rings are passed from guest to guest during the ceremony for everyone to make a wish for your married life.
Group Vows - WE DO!
Your handwritten vows - as above, you could add these to your time capsule (along with any reading cards too!)
Readings given by friends and family.
Decorative certificate - signed, sealed, delivered.... I'm yours!
A wine box/time capsule ceremony fits perfectly before your wedding vows/ring exchange, but it can go anywhere in your ceremony really! It will be dependent on other ceremony elements you choose to include but your celebrant will guide you!
Good luck with your ceremony planning, any questions - just ask!
