No Longer a Solo Traveller | Meg Stanier Celebrant | Wedding reading for couples who love to travel

Updated: 6 days ago

Just one passport on the move, the earth waiting to be explored.

You’re all checked in; adventure awaits, your flights about to board.

You occupy the window seat; your journey's about to start.

But an unexpected detour in life guides you straight to someone’s heart.

Travelling was once my only love, my soul captured at each location.

But you were an unexpected stop, causing a change in my navigation.

Now, I buy two tickets! Our map pinned, planning life together.

Our stamped passports house memories of wandering this world forever.

Message from Meg

I wrote this poem for couples who love to travel, who perhaps weren't looking for each other necessarily but stumbled on love by accident. Whether you met whilst travelling or share a passion for exploring this beautiful world, this could be a contender for your wedding ceremony reading.

With a travel theme, this poem also highlights how your life can change direction at any moment. Even though you may not have been looking for love, you are happy to share your life (and passion for travel) with this person.

Celebrant ceremony ideas

This poem would pair well with:

  • A time capsule: you can put tickets or pictures from your favourite destinations in a wooden box and locations you hope to visit in the future, along with letters written to each other. This will be closed during your ceremony to be opened on an anniversary of your choice.

  • Handwritten vows

  • Have your celebrant mention some of your favourite memories travelling together.

  • Paper aeroplane exit: Ask your guests to build paper aeroplanes before your grand entrance; at the end of the ceremony, they'll be invited to throw these.

  • Apart from the above, this poem will also be perfect for couples who are just looking for a simple reading to add to their ceremony, which gives a nod to their adventurous nature.
